Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)

B.E. Biotechnology

Biotechnology represents a major driver for a high technology professional career in the modern era. Catering to the demands from the biotechnology workforce sector, our Biotechnology programme is designed to instill knowledge and equip students with necessary skills that are useful for the industrial research.

B.E. Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineering is the most versatile of engineering disciplines. No facets of modern civilization can be envisioned without contributions from chemical engineers. Through a judicious mix of mandatory and elective courses, the student at the Dubai campus gains expertise in various areas of chemical engineerings, such as petroleum and petrochemicals, textiles and synthetic fibers, colloids, suspensions, emulsions, etc.

B.E. Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is instrumental in the country’s infrastructure as it deals with planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the built environment that improves mobility and convenience for the society. The graduates will have an option to work as design engineers, structural engineers, town planners, transport planners, environmental consultants, construction managers, and so on.

B.E. Computer Science

A wide range of courses are offered to students to help them understand the various intricacies involved in computing. The courses are designed in a way to invoke students’ ability to think originally and creatively. The department is equipped with modern Computer Labs, with well-trained lab assistants, to enable students to better understand the theory lecture sessions and to give them exposure to practical problem-solving.

B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering

Electronics & Communication Engineering deals with the operating principles and design of devices ranging from mobile phone to wireless networks and satellite communication systems. This programme reflects the wide diversity of communication and data transmission technologies which are accepted as a vital part of everyday life.

B.E. Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The programme is dedicated to the teaching and research activities in the areas of Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, and Communication Engineering. The courses offered by the department educates the students to take up challenging jobs in a wide range of industries and engage themselves in research and development activities for the good of society.

B.E. Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is the broadest of the engineering disciplines. In this programme, students learn to solve engineering problems in the area of design and manufacturing, automation, robotics and thermal-fluid engineering. Emphasis is on the process of learning and critical thinking to promote collaborative relationships with industries and other universities.

Engineering programmes are mathematics and hard science based that incorporate many up-to-date techniques of analysis and synthesis. These degree programmes are available with both Practice School and Thesis/Seminar options with a normal duration of 4 years.

 

The M.E. programmes of 2 years of normal duration are uniquely designed and structured for Engineers who are employed professionals or in the pursuit of seeking employment. These programmes give an immersive professional experience and an opportunity to acquire further competence either in one’s own discipline or gain complementary knowledge in Engineering as well as Interdisciplinary areas to upgrade their career.

 

Master of Engineering (M.E.)

M.E. Design Engineering

The M.E. Design Engineering programme aims at equipping a Mechanical Engineer with the core competency skills required to be a Design Engineer. The programme primarily covers the broad areas namely: Materials Technology, Product Design, Mechanisms and Robotics, Computer Aided tools for a Mechanical Engineering Analysis and Design in addition to discipline-based elective courses in emerging & advanced areas.

M.E. Electrical (with specialization in Power Electronics and Drives)

This programme has been duly approved for offering by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Government of Dubai. With a specialization in Power Electronics and Drives, the students will be well-versed in the operation, function and interaction between various components and subsystems used in power electronic converters, electric machines and adjustable-speed drives. Through this programme, a student can be gainfully employed in manufacturing, construction and power distribution industries.

M.E. Microelectronics

The M.E. Microelectronics programme aims at offering courses that provide the necessary skill set required by microelectronics design engineers to find ways to deliver smaller, faster, and cheaper devices that are in-line with the current technological developments. The programme primarily covers the broad areas namely, Modeling of Microelectronic Devices, IC Fabrication Technology, VLSI Architecture and Design, CAD tools for Analog and Digital IC Design in addition to discipline based elective courses in emerging & advanced areas.

M.E. Software Systems

The programme incorporates core & elective courses along with Practice School (PS) / Dissertation that equip students to cater to the dynamic needs of the software industry. The students acquire a strong foundation on the recent trends and technologies in the field of computer science like Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cyber Security among others. The Practice School is a formal method of bringing the reality of the professional environment into the educational process.

Research is an integral component in an institute of higher learning. BITS Pilani Dubai campus with its state-of-the-art research facilities offers Ph.D. programmes with strong emphasis laid on interdisciplinary, mission oriented and relevant research. Topics of Research can be chosen from any of the disciplines in which the Institute offers the First and Higher Degree Programmes or any interdisciplinary or allied areas.

Admissions for Ph.D. (Part Time) are not open for Academic Year 2021-22

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

Candidates registered for the On-campus programme will undergo the entire pursuit of their thesis on campus. Candidates admitted under this scheme will work full time toward their Ph.D. research and will not take any other assignment till the submission of the final thesis. The required components for On-Campus Programmes are: Qualifying Examination, Course Work, Teaching Practice, Seminar, Doctoral Thesis and Research Methodology. It is expected that the Ph.D. Scholar submits his/her Ph.D. thesis within an upper limit of ten semesters subsequent to passing the Qualifying examination.

Part-time Ph.D.

This unique opportunity is offered for employed professionals working in Industries, Academic Institutes and R&D organizations and having long experience and proven competence in various fields to work towards the Ph.D. degree. Candidates meeting the input qualifications and working in an organization, which encourages and facilitates research and situated preferably in the close vicinity of the BITS Pilani campus are eligible to apply for admission in “Part-Time” Ph.D. programme. The required components for Part-time and Off-Campus Doctoral programmes are: Qualifying Examination, Course Work, Practice Lecture Series, Research Methodology, Independent Study & Doctoral Thesis.

Ph.D. Aspirant Scheme

Candidates meeting the input qualification and working in an organization collaborating with BITS Pilani will normally be considered for admission to “Off-Campus” programme, also known as Ph.D. Aspirant Scheme. Such candidates will be allowed to pursue their research at their own locations of work. The required components for Off-Campus Doctoral programmes are: Qualifying Examination, Course Work, Practice Lecture Series, Research Methodology, Independent Study & Doctoral Thesis.

Admissions Modality

Eligibility

First Degree Programmes (B.E.)

Successful completion of 12th Grade or equivalent with a minimum 60% overall aggregate of marks and a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

Higher Degree Programmes (M.E./M.B.A.)

A minimum aggregate of 60% in the qualifying degree (B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. or equivalent) in relevant disciplines Candidates who meet the above criteria will be required to appear and successfully clear the Interview to qualify for admission.

Ph.D. Programmes

M.E./M.S./M.B.A./M.Phil. of BITS Pilani or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate. Eligible Candidates will be required to take a written test and interview. The admission will be based on the performance in the qualifying degree, experience, test and interview.

Fee Structure (Tuition+Hostel)

Tuition Fee: B.E.  – AED 45,000/- per year, payable in 4 installments.
Tuition Fee: M.E./M.B.A. – AED 32,000/- per year, payable in 4 installments.
Tuition Fee: P.H.D. – Per semester AED 2400 for On-campus & AED 3600 for Part-time/Off-campus.
Hostel  Fee: AED 30,000/- per year, payable in 2 installments.
